What better way to spend a Sunday than visiting a traditional artisan market with some of Yorkshires best small businesses all together in the same location! Little Bird will be setting up in their hometown of Ripon this Sunday with over 45 stalls in the towns Market Square. The Square will be bursting with makers, bakers, designers, artists, photographers and creators who are looking forward to meeting visitors and are always keen to talk about their products and businesses.
Supporting small independent businesses has never been more important and with many of them reusing and recycling materials you can also support the environment at the same time. Some of the ways traders are supporting the environment include recycling pebbles and sea glass collected from Yorkshire shores to create unique pieces of jewellery and art, crafting driftwood into pieces of art and homeware, creating organic skin, body and home fragrance product and upcycling items to give them a second lease of life rather than going to landfill to name just a few. Many traders only use sustainable products and recyclable packaging for all their produce, all the small changes we can make really do add up and can have a positive effect on our environment.
As the days are starting to get longer and spring is on the horizon, why not give something back and pledge to shop local, support small independent businesses or buy more environmentally friendly goods. All of these can be done by visiting one of our artisan markets, your local farmers market or some of the small independent shops and businesses within your hometown. These small steps really can add up to make a big difference not only in supporting small business to survive bit also in doing our part to protect our environment.
