They support small local companies to showcase their handmade products, local produce as you browse the stalls. Managing Director, Jackie Crozier said: “I’m delighted to be working with local councillors, the council’s Acomb Front Street Regeneration project and Made It York to bring the Acomb market back to the area on a trial basis. In 2023 Little Bird celebrated their 5th Birthday and, in the beginning, I didn’t imagine I would be operating markets in so many locations throughout the area. It really has grown wings and flew, but we pride ourselves in providing high quality shopping experiences and remaining true to our ethos of supporting small businesses and promoting local areas that we trade in”.

Jackie continues: “My parents met in York, were married in York and I have family in Acomb so am delighted to bring Little Bird to the area. 27 Little Bird traders will be bringing their products and smiles each month and cannot wait to meet all their new customers. The team is looking forward to adding Acomb, York to our monthly markets and working with our local partners”.

The market will take place in Westfield Ward, represented by Cllr Emily Nelson. She said:

“We’re really delighted to work with Little Bird in bringing this special market to the residents of York, and to those of Westfield, Acomb and Holgate especially.  As local councillors we’re keen to see market traders and local businesses driving greater footfall in Front Street, something that will benefit all businesses operating there.  We encourage people to visit the market and support this trial and importantly, to shop local”.

The first market will take place on Saturday 16 th March, 10am to 3pm in Acomb Front Street, there after the 3 rd Saturday of each month for an initial three-month trial. This is a great opportunity to come along and meet the people behind the products, support local businesses and Little Birds ethos of shopping small and shopping local. Small businesses are someone’s passion and dream, and each purchase or recommendation helps that dream to grow and develop.
